16 bit Mayhem with Maya Breaker
Maya Breaker is a new game up on Steam Greenlight that needs votes. The game looks to be a fun little number and is the first selection offered by Xanthour Ray Games. Maya Breaker, is a homage to old school 16 bit game. Armed with only a grappling hook your only goal is to survive and make it back to the surface. If you are familiar with Super Metroid with Super Casltevania IV then you will feel right at home with this game.
Michael Hayes, the creator of the game tells us a little about its inspiration“The idea for the game came when we were adapting our game "Antipole" to the Nintendo DS. I was thinking about how to use the controller to its fullest. I always felt the shoulder buttons should be used for actions relating to left and right, but they seldom get used. By having and 8 way attack, it gives me something to use the shoulder and other keys for and gives the player a lot of power. When we get on Steam, I'm going to make many medals for things like speed running and finding secrets. These labyrinthine games are great for discovering secrets. There are no other games in the works right now, I just want to make MB the best it can be--I would like to point out that the Wii U is a great place for playing indie games."
When asked about future developments Mike said, “When we get on Steam, I’m going to make many medals for things like speed running and finding secrets. These labyrinthine games are great for discovering secrets.”
Now watch the video and see what its all about. Maya Breaker may be new but certainly has an old school feel. While you are at, go give this game the thumbs up and help it to become a new Steam classic.
